Three Good Things
A book that ought to be a Christmas classic. Big bows. A brilliant game for people who love words
I find the run-up to Christmas nigh-on irresistible. The twinkling lights. Working with a tree for company [above]. Christmas music - yes, even the mournful carols like In the Deep Midwinter (poverty and bad weather) and those wherein the rhymes puzzle me (viz. Hark the Herald Angels Sing: how does ‘come’ rhyme with ‘womb’?). Heck, I breakfasted on advent calendar chocolate and lunched on a slice of panettone and two satsumas one day this week. I defy anyone not to be cheered by that.
But if you do require cheering here are three small reasons for joy.
