The Good Stuff
Three good things, including a small but mighty miracle of a novella - and on the scroll for the 10 questions you should ask yourself, the best Christmas trees, affordable wine, Taylor Swift and Temu
This new series amalgamates the ‘good things’ and ‘discoveries’ and will arrive in your inbox as a regular shot of joy, adventure and things I have found (read, watched, listened to, coveted etc, etc) which I think you, beloved Substack friends, will like, too. Putting it together reminds me of my magazine days, when I’d trawl and hunt like a truffle hound, and then present my findings for the readers’ delectation; the editorial equivalent of tying a present with a large velvet bow. Because the good stuff - the best bits, like the best books - should be shared.
You’ll also get my hard-won wisdom on matters ranging from interiors to top of the frocks and the best books to …… (Fill blank as applicable: cheer you up, recover from a broken heart, for when you are time poor). You lucky things. It will be partial, possibly absurd, but I shall endeavour not to be prejudiced. Nod to Jane Austen there, the day after her 248th birthday. Please also note the bauble.
Right - to the goodness. It’s a trio of disparate items this month, starting - rightly so - with a book which has much to recommend it. Not least that it’s so slight, you can squeeze in a spot of reading in between panic buying/wrapping presents and gorging yourself on mince pies and your chocolate of choice. (Strawberry and orange creams all the way.)
